- Do you have an interest in a certain area of work, but have never done it before?
- Have you experienced a disability and want to know if you can still perform the type of work you did before or wonder how your disability might affect your work?
- Would you like to “try-out? a job before you decide if it is right for you?
- Are you involved in a state or federal vocational rehabilitation program?
If you answered yes to most of these questions, DCC’s Community-Based Assessment Program may be able to provide Work Trials that can provide the answers you need to know for the next step in your career or to transition you back to work.
Community Based Assessment (CBA) is designed to provide real-time functional information regarding a person’s “employability? in terms of basic work behaviors, interpersonal communication and with regards to performing a specific occupational objective.
DCC Counselors work closely with local employers to develop work sites that are supportive and of interest to the individual. A formal agreement is established outlining the parameters of the assessment and a job coaching plan is established based on the questions to be answered by the work trial. DCC Counselors emphasize the development of compensatory strategies and reasonable accommodations to help clients perform the duties of the job in a competitive manner.
The length and type of each CBA is determined individually according to need. Most CBA’s are non-paid and meet Federal Wage and Hour Guidelines for such assessments.
